CSCMP's NY/NJ Roundtable kicked off 2019 on Jan. 16 with a January afternoon tour of the World's Most Famous Arena: Madison Square Garden. The group was treated to a behind-the-scenes look at the recent $1.1 billion (yes, billion, with a "B") renovation that helped propel the already versatile arena into the 21st century.
The improvements were noticeable as our tour guide led us through expanded corridors lined with historical facts and photos of the famous events hosted at the venue throughout its rich history. The group experienced many aspects of the arena; a luxury suite (coincidentally we were taken into one of our sponsor’s suites – PwC), one of the arena’s four “beer rooms”, the Chase media bridge, a VR stage tour of a Billy Joel concert, and then back down to floor level where the Chicago Blackhawks hockey team was just finishing up their practice for the day.
After the tour concluded, the group walked the block-and-a-half to Mustang Harry’s for our networking reception. The event was attended by a wide range of professionals in different roles and aspects of supply chain: real estate, finance, students, importers/exporters, manufacturers, logistics providers, and more. The intimate nature of the event allowed everyone to talk with one another, truly providing great networking value to all in attendance in a fun setting.
