Emerging Technologies - March 19 Event Recap

The CSCMP NY/NJ Roundtable hosted over 70 area supply chain, logistics, and transportation professionals in Midtown Manhattan for our March 19th event on Emerging Technologies. Attendees were treated to a great night of networking and presentations to further enrich CSCMP's mission to Connect, Educate, and Develop the world's supply chain professionals!

The networking portion of the event was supported by both CSCMP event and year-long sponsors, who were invited to set up information stations for event-goers to learn more about how each company fits into today's evolving supply chain. Attendees were given an event passport to pose probing questions to each sponsor to make the event more fun and interactive, which was a huge success by all accounts!

After the networking and dinner portion of the event, the evening's emcee and moderator, CSCMP president Rick Blasgen, was introduced by NY/NJ Roundtable president, Suzanne Richer, after a few words about the roundtable's latest activities. In addition to Rick, our informative and enlightening presentation on emerging technologies was given by the following panelists: Rob DeNardo (PwC), Jack Schmidt (Deloitte), Gary Baracco (Amber Road), and Andrew Genn (NYC Economic Development Corp.).

The panel of experts delivered relevant and timely perspectives on a variety of emerging technologies, including blockchain, drone delivery expansion, automation, electric vehicles, 3D printing, virtual reality, robotics, artificial intelligence, the connected supply chain, assembling a tech stack for your supply chain, and New York City's plans to promote jobs growth and technological investment in supply chain, transportation, and logistics.

All in all, the networking, presentation, and Q&A session formed a well-rounded event that served to expose attendees to a broad knowledge-base on emerging technologies. Many questions still remain as technology continues to develop at a rapid pace, and it is clear that the supply chain community is focused on learning about the best, most relevant applications of these emerging technologies.
